On April 3, the Salida Community Center will host an Easter Egg Hunt at Thonhoff Park. Pre-K, kindergarten and first grade will begin at 9:00 a.m.  while second, third, and fourth grades will start at 10:30 a.m.  The park is located on Poncha Boulevard across from the Chaffee County Courthouse in Salida.

The center hosts a variety of holiday events throughout the year including Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. With warmer weather and an outdoor space, the center plans to hide over 6,000 eggs for local kids.

Director of the Salida Community Center Elaine Allemang explained, “We also have little bags we’re going to fill. I’ve got gluten-free bars, fruit rollups and a pallet full of chocolate candy. I don’t know how many kids will be there so even if they don’t get five or six eggs, they’re all going to get a little basket.”

Due to the nature of the event, it allows for social distancing. Though this is outdoors, it is recommended that families and participants follow the current health orders and social distancing guidelines.
