The Salida Council for the Arts has extended its High School Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship deadline to May 4, due to the community situation related to the coronavirus pandemic known as COVID-19.

The council awards two $500 scholarships for high school seniors who plan on pursuing a career in the visual or performing arts. The council says that it is looking for two outstanding students, one with an interest in visual media and one with an interest in performing arts.

Students are asked to answer three questions on the application along with information about their preferred medium.

Eligible students attending Salida High School, as well as students in non-traditional and homeschool are eligible. The rules state that “One must simply be in pursuit of studying performing or visual arts discipline as a full-time student at an accredited college.”
