Leading off the agenda, Council members will conduct interviews with five applicants for the Salida Tree Board. Staff has recommended expanding the board from two active members currently to a new total of five.  Finalists will then be presented for appointment in a resolution to Council at their regular session on April 19th.

A Salida RV Resort update and presentation by Owner, Brian Morrison will follow, continuing discussions and updating on options from the previous work session.

The City is considering a “Safe Outdoor Space”/overnight workforce parking permit program, based upon several key criteria, including: ample space, proximity to downtown, accessibility, availability of water, shade protection, public parking opportunities, and safety, among others.

A preferred location will be identified for this May to October program designed to assist with seasonal workforce housing.  A framework for an agreement to operate the site (using a third party) will also be discussed.

Result of the 2022 City of Salida Community Survey to be presented

Over 1,200 residents of widespread age groups completed the survey, which indicates a high level of interest and importance for City officials.  Key findings are contained in pages 25-69 of the complete Council packet, located here.  In the survey, questions were asked regarding resident’s preferences as to bringing back the summer closure of selected blocks of F Street to allow for a pedestrian mall.  With an overwhelming majority of respondents in favor, Council discussion will focus on dates for the closure, logistics and any refinements that might be made to enhance the project, now in its third year.

While public hearings are not held during work sessions, presenters and the public may attend Salida City Council in person. Or, those desiring to listen in real-time (virtually) are asked to please register for the City Council Work Session at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8054749917914710285.
