On Aug. 6, 2021 the Salida Police Dept. arrested John Turley (56) on a Chaffee County Court-issued arrest warrant. Turley was charged with One Count of C.R.S. 18-3-405 Sexual Assault on a Child (F4) and taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chaffee County Detention Center (CCDC) with the assistance of the Chaffee County Tactical Team.

The Salida Police Department received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) on Aug. 3, 2021, regarding a possible sex assault on an 8-year-old child.

The report stated that the alleged assault took place in the City of Salida as well as in Park County (Colorado) during the months of May and June (2021).

The NCMEC report stated that the suspect in the case was Salida resident (S) John Turley (age 56). Salida Police Detectives conducted an investigation and subsequently obtained probable cause to seek an arrest warrant for John Turley. Detectives were able to also obtain a Chaffee County Court-issued search warrant for Turley’s Salida residence.

After Turley was arrested, Salida Police Detectives served the search warrant at his Salida residence where potential evidence for the case was collected. Additional criminal charges may be forthcoming in the case.
