The Board of Education of Salida School District R-32-J is anticipating two vacancies on the Board of Education after the Nov. 5, 2019 election. Under state law, the Board will declare a director vacancy in both School District 1 and School District 5 at the regular meeting Nov. 12. The Board plans to make two appointments to fill the vacancies.
To be eligible for appointment, a candidate must live in the director district that the applicant is seeking (i.e., Salida School District 1 or District 5). Candidates must also have been a registered voter of the Salida School District for at least 12 consecutive months before the date of appointment. Persons meeting these qualifications are invited to apply.
Interested applicants should send a statement of interest and qualifications to the Board of Education. The application consists of a letter of interest, a resume, and a list of three reference. Applications should be sent to the attention of Board Secretary Brandy Coscarella at 349 E. 9th St., Salida by 4 p.m. on Oct. 30.
Following submittals, prospective candidates will be interviewed by the Board of Education in a public meeting on Nov. 12, and appointments will be made to fill vacancies at the Dec. 10 regular meeting of the Board of Education. Appointees will be eligible to attend the Colorado Association of School Boards conference Dec. 5 through 8.
The two appointee(s) will serve until the next regular school biennial election in November 2021.
