Salida Soup will host its first event of the New Year at 6 p.m. on January 21.
‘Salida Soup 62: Feed the Future’ will discuss their revamped programs and what’s new for 2021.
Traditionally, January’s Salida Soup has been a fundraiser for the event itself and this month is no exception. Partnership for Community Action (PfCA) will also talk about changes to existing programs, launches of new programs and other events that will be happening in the coming months.
Salida Soup itself has gone through some changes since the last Feed the Future event. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, PfCA opted to take Salida Soup online in March 2020. Working with one direct-action program or organization in the area, PfCA helped raise awareness and much-needed support along with money for community projects to keep community members connected and cared for.
Spokesperson Jimmy Sellars explained “This year we will be activating a couple new parts to it. One will be soup delivery, so we’ll be continuing making soup and delivering it to people. Hopefully by the end of the year we will have soup kits available in at least one local store, if not multiple.”
Salida Soup will continue to stay online for this month’s event but will go back to the three-presenter format for February’s Soup.
“We are seeking presenters. We will have three presenters who will develop a five-minute pitch via movie, and we will have a live Salida Soup the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m.” said Sellars.
If you or someone you know would like to make a presentation video and pitch an idea or project that is looking for funding at future Salida Soup events, contact PfCA via hello@goPfCA.com
