Effective as of late Thursday afternoon, Jan. 6, most Salida High School Sports have been paused through the weekend, as the COVID-19 surge of the Omicron variant hits the area.

This means that the wrestling team did not participate in their meet against Florence Thursday afternoon, nor will it participate in the tournament at Pueblo South High School on Saturday.

Both boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will not have games as scheduled this weekend against Lake County.

Regular serial testing resumes on Monday and then Spartan Sports will reevaluate the sports schedule for the coming week. Games will be rescheduled as possible later in the season.

Currently, the Swimming Quad Meet at the Salida Pool on Saturday is still scheduled to proceed. That meet starts at 9:00 a.m.  Saturday morning.

Canceled are the following:

  • Wrestling Tournament Pueblo South HS
    8:30
  • HS Basketball vs. Lake County SHS Gym
    11:00  JV Girls and Boys
12:30 Varsity Girls and C Boys
7:00  Varsity Boys and C Girls
