Grab your swim suits and sunscreen — the splashpad is complete.
This week the City of Salida Parks & Recreation Department and Stratton & Bratt Aquatic Division announced the completion of the Splash Pad at Centennial Park. A public ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, complete with free rocket pops for kids of all ages.

The splash pad is located opposite the skate park, on the bathroom and volleyball court side of the park next to the Aquatic Center. This project is the result of the community surveying that occurred during the master planning process. A splash pad was ranked fifth in desired amenities behind better restrooms, outdoor soaking pools, a recreation center, and a skate park.
Construction for this project broke ground at the end of August 2022, and the project was completed in November. It includes a dynamic design with areas for both toddlers and older children, is ADA accessible, and includes seating nearby for family and observers. This new addition to Centennial Park is expected to be a family fun spot and a cooling relief from the summer heat.
