The Salida Sunrise Rotary will celebrate its tenth anniversary on August 29 with community organization booths, a Lucky Ducky Race, kids activities, music, and more. The event is free and open to the public.

“Service Above Self” is the Rotary purpose, and the Salida Sunrise Rotary tenth Anniversary Celebration will feature that theme through various free activities from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Riverside Park.

A community favorite- the Lucky Ducky Race — will raise money to go into Salida Sunrise Rotary’s Charitable Fund. The Charitable Fund provides scholarships to Salida School District graduates who are continuing their education, and to local nonprofits that are serving our community.

Local businesses and individuals are sponsoring large rubber ducks that will race on the Arkansas River near Riverside Park. The sponsors of the winning ducks will have scholarships named in their honor. To find information about sponsoring a duck, go to SalidaSunriseRotary.com.

Community organization booths will allow local groups to share how they serve Salida and the surrounding area. Booths are planned to include informational materials, activities, and other opportunities to interact with the organization’s staff and volunteers. Community organizations who want to participate can find details on SalidaSunriseRotary.com.

Kids activities will provide education and entertainment to younger children in our community. These activities will be hosted by Salida Sunrise Rotary volunteers.

To add to the festive spirit, local musicians will play in the Rotary Band Shell throughout the afternoon.
