It’s that time of year again to nominate your candidates for the Salida Chamber’s Annual Community Awards. These include Cornerstone, From the Heart, Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Entrepreneur and Business of the Year. The 2020 awards ceremony will be virtual with a special video presentation featuring each of the six award winners. The video will be available for community members to view in January 2021 on the Chamber’s website and social media.
The Cornerstone Award is given as recognition of long-term community support and dedication. From the Heart, Man and Woman of the Year nominees are those involved in the betterment of the community through active civic participation. Their involvement may include health, human services, education, recreation, arts or cultural improvements, economic development, or community based organizations. Nominees for these awards must have demonstrated willingness to assist in business and community projects by participating in the betterment of the community and must also have exhibited leadership in the community projects or have completed them successfully.

The Entrepreneur award was created to honor a business or individual who has made a significant impact on the community over a short period of time. This year’s award will be chosen by the Chamber’s Board of Directors. The Business of the Year award will be given to the business that continues to best support, serve and stand by the community of Salida. This award will also be chosen by the Chamber’s Board of Directors from 2020’s twelve Businesses of the Month.
Nominees will be selected based of the following criteria:
- How qualified is the nominee to receive this award based on the description?
- How accomplished is the nominee in the community and to what level have they contributed to the community?
- How much of an impact does the nominee have on their community as it relates to the organizations the nominee is involved in?
Community members are given the opportunity to recognize fellow Salidans who demonstrate leadership, involvement and embody the Salida spirit.
