The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office has announced that Herbert Lucas Scott (DOB: 10/27/99) is facing additional charges stemming from allegations of obscenity at The Pony Patch at Doolittle Ranch in Chaffee County in August, 2020.

In addition to the two counts of obscenity, Scott is now facing nine counts of Sexual Assault on a Child by one in Position of Trust (Felony 3) following a comprehensive investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and the 11th¬†Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

The victims’ ages range from 9 to 18-years-old.¬†All the victims in the case were clients/visitors at the ranch.

The Pony Patch was a popular children’s equestrian riding club run by Chaffee resident Melissa Scott. It shut down in August following the initial obscenity charges that month. The Doolittle ranch was recently sold.

Scott’s next court appearance is in Chaffee County District Court on February 4, 2021.

CBI agents are asking families to speak with their children who may have been in contact with Scott at the camp or other locations, and to call a designated tip line through Chaffee County Crime Stoppers to report any inappropriate behavior that may have occurred. That number is 719-539-5299.

Because of the nature of the investigation and juvenile involvement, very few details are available at this time.
