U.S. Senator Michael Bennet
The office of Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet has announced that he is seeking to highlight stories of those who have served, in recognition of Veteran’s Day on Nov. 11.
Bennet is inviting Colorado veterans and their families to share their stories of service, what has shaped their time in the service, their most rewarding and challenging moments, and what they would like their fellow Americans to know about their experience.
“Every year on Veterans Day, the nation shines a light on the bravery and dedication of the men and women of the armed forces who have served to protect our country,” said Bennet.
“From the Greatest Generation storming the beaches of Normandy and Iwo Jima to those who fought in Vietnam and Korea to today’s generation of veterans who answered the call of 9/11 and continue to serve in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and worldwide, our veterans have sacrificed greatly for our country. This Veterans Day, I invite our veterans to share their stories of service – because it’s vitally important that we hear them in Washington and across America,” he added.
The submission guidelines for sharing veteran stories are located here. Bennet’s office asks that with permission, submitted stories may be shared on social media or used in a future speech or video. Their effort, say, staffers, is to publish as many stories as possible in Bennet’s “Voices of Colorado” initiative. The initiative is designed to make heard the stories of Coloradans with regards to topics such as health care, immigration, the economy, and military service.
Those who would like to share their veteran stories with Bennet, but not with the general public, may use the form located here.
