The evening of Monday, Aug. 5, the Salida Police Department and the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a shooting at a Poncha Springs residence, located at the intersection of U.S. 50 and 285 next to Holiday RV.

The press release from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office says that their personnel, “…responded to the residence and found one person suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to [Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center] for treatment by Chaffee County EMS.”
The release adds that the investigation is ongoing and “there is no threat or danger to the residents of Poncha Springs.” They stated that more information would be released to the public as it becomes available.
