Today in scenes that until now Americans have only seen in foreign capitals, insurgents loyal to Trump and refusing to accept the results of a free and fair election,  have swarmed the United States Capitol, causing both the House and the Senate, gathered to ceremoniously accept the results of the Electoral College, to evacuate the building.

The capitol building has been breached and the cult insurgents — for that is what they are — have engaged in gunfire with U.S. Capitol Hill Police.

David Mack’s Twitter feed provides some incredible Getty images of the Senate and House chambers; our elected officials taking cover, insurgents scaling the walls of the house Chamber:

The hostile actions come after a rally on Black Lives Matter Plaza in which President Donald Trump, repeating again the tired and baseless claims that he, and not President -elect Joe Biden won the election. It is a true statement to say that he incited the crowd to do basically what they did.

January 6 is the designated day for the ceremonial presentation of all 50 state’s electoral college votes to Congress. The U.S.Constitution is clear; Congress does not set aside the Electoral College decision; it accepts the results. Trump’s claims that somehow his “man Pence” would come to his rescue and declare him president again — is a pipedream.

It would seem obvious that the first job of our law enforcement is to gain practical control of the United States Capitol. There are seditionists roaming the halls of Congress, sitting in the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. At this point the current VP, the VP-elect, the Speaker of the House and the Senate are said to be in secure locations. Both the Senate and House leadership say they want to come back into session as soon as possible to complete their Electoral College certification ceremonial duties.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has called out the D.C. National Guard. The FBI Rapid Response Tactical Team and the U.S. Secret Service Tactical Response Team are on site and the Maryland State Police Tactical Unit and the Virginia National Guard are on their way to the site. At this point, they are going to need to clear the perimeter from the outside in — rather than the inside out.

It should go unsaid that if these people were Black or Muslim…. the initial response of securing the building might have been decidedly different. Why didn’t anyone see this, or at least prepare for the possibility that these seditionists might do what they have done? (From personal experience, this reporter was on Capitol Hill on Sept. 12, 2012, the day of the attacks on U.s. facilities in Benghazi. I was there as the honoree of Congressman Mike Coffman. The pagers of all the Senators and Congressmen in the room went off and they exited the room. Leaving the building only 30 minutes later from the truncated award ceremony, Capitol Hill was an armed camp, because of what happened — in Africa. does this response today seem a bit different?)

A sane person could ask how did this happen?

At some point someone should probably ask: how is it that in a building that you can’t gain entry to with so much as a hairbrush, how did armed seditionists gain entrance; who was compromised and how?

Yes, there are windows and glass doors broken, but sources close to the action tell AVV that the seditionists gained entrance through a small side door on the east side, that is normally locked. Who would have opened it? Why?

And now — we’ve seen everything: In the midst of this, Texas Senator Ted Cruz is FUNDRAISING for his efforts to block the certification of the presidential election.
