As the I-70 Corridor in the central Colorado Rockies experiences a record snowfall, Colorado Mountain College has announced that its campuses in Leadville, Breckenridge, Dillon, Carbondale, Rifle, Spring Valley and the Glenwood Center are all closed on Friday, Feb. 7.  Closed also is the Colorado Mountain College Central Services office in Glenwood Springs.

As of 10 a.m. Friday, CMC campuses in Aspen, Steamboat Springs and Edwards still remained open. At the campuses that remain open, students who have a Friday class and face difficult road conditions, were asked to contact their campus or instructor regarding their commuting circumstances.

The I-70 corridor experienced closures due to extreme winter driving conditions on Thursday evening Feb., 6, which continue today. With avalanche danger rising, this morning the Colorado Department of Transportation also closed portions of the I-70 corridor this morning to conduct avalanche mitigation. Hundreds of motorists attempting to get a jump on the weekend skiing are stopped in Summit County, and more road closures are expected throughout the day.
