The new Solvista Health Regional Assessment Center is under construction on the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Campus in Salida and its leadership has invited the community for tours of the new facility. The tours will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021. allowing the community to “catch the vision” and share with others what this project means to all of us and our communities.

The Solvista Behavioral Health System servers some 13,000 square miles of rural Colorado. But there has been no regional assessment center available here in the central Rockies, meaning that anyone needing behavioral assessment, or treatment has had to be transported to the Front Range. This has meant hours of delay in treatment.

That the new assessment center is needed in rural, Central Colorado has been known for years. This region ranks second highest in the state for opioid deaths. One in five adults in Colorado drinks excessively. Chaffee County has one of the highest incidences of risky behaviors by its youth in the state of Colorado, including the early use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco.

The new Regional Assessment Center officially broke ground on May 12 of this year. The plan is for it to be completed by April, 2022.

The official address will be 7166 County Road 154 in Salida.
