In a series reported by Ark Valley Voice, the week of March 27 featured multiple site tours and design charette workshops in the city of Salida, leading up to an Open House on Thursday, March 30 at the SteamPlant, all focused on the South Ark Neighborhood.
While the number of those casting straw poll “votes” for preferences is small at this point, it may be an early indication of where the project might be headed.
Continued dialogue between the community, the Planning Commission, Development staff, and the city council is needed. The city notes that it’s important to take the time to do some homework, ask questions, and get engaged, while the most flexibility exists to help steer this ship.
Look to Ark Valley Voice on Saturday, April 1 for reporting from the March 30 Open House by AVV reporter Elliot Jackson.
With preliminary master plan alternatives in hand, the concepts will now be refined and presented to the Planning Commission and Salida City Council to move forward to the preferred master plan.
Interested parties are encouraged to follow the ongoing coverage in Ark Valley Voice, as well as visit the project website and check the South Ark Neighborhood Plan Facebook page to stay informed and have your voice heard.
