A spot fire has flared up in what was a dormant fire area on the southeast side of the Decker Fire in Fremont County. “Fire crews are evaluating the hot spot right now, and are directing resources to the area,” said Public Information Officer Rick Barton. “People seeing smoke from that area should know that we are strengthening resources in that area.”

Pre-evacuation orders have been issued for zones 1 and 2 near Howard in Fremont County as of 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, due to a spot fire that has flared up on the southeast side of the Decker Fire.

Around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office issued a pre-evacuation order for the area of Howard, in Fremont County only.

According to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Facebook page, “Prevailing winds run the risk of pushing the fire into residential areas, putting Zone 1 and Zone 2 of the Howard area are on pre-evacuation notice.”
