Paws for Peace” is the topic for the Central Colorado Humanists Sunday Science program for Nov. 5. Patty LaTaille will speak on the role of therapy dogs in restorative justice practices. The program begins at 10:00 a. m. at the Scout Hut, 210 E. Sackett Ave., Salida, CO.
LaTaille is a professional mediator and has worked in multiple settings encouraging non-violent communications and restorative justice. Among them are The Peace Alliance, Full Circle Restorative Justice, and Rotary Peace Fellow in Bangkok, Thailand. She has worked with high-risk adolescents for more than 25 years.
LaTaille holds a graduate degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Colorado and was employed by IBM as a Communications Architect. She has a number of published works and photos in various media.
LaTaille enjoys active time outdoors with young people. In earlier years she worked as a whitewater guide and ski/snowboard instructor.
Central Colorado Humanists sponsor Sunday Science on the first Sunday of each month. Each presentation is informative and features a science topic that is understandable by both scientists and non-scientists. The doors open at 9:30 a. m., admission is free, and the public is welcome.
