Small Business Saturday kicks off this weekend as a day dedicated to supporting small businesses and communities across the country. Community members are encouraged to support the local businesses they love by shopping Chaffee County’s small businesses; Buena Vista Main Street and Salida’s F Street, and the many small businesses in Poncha Springs on Nov. 30, Small Business Saturday.

The Saturday shopping event was founded by American Express in 2010 and is now celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. For the 10th anniversary event, local businesses in both Buena Vista and Salida will be featuring promotions and discounts. The hashtag #ShopSmall is currently in use in Buena Vista.
Small businesses throughout Buena Vista and Salida will be participating with special discounts, deals, and offers to encourage consumers to skip the Black Friday chaos and support a local business for their holiday shopping this year.
