The Salida School District has come to a resignation agreement with former Salida High School Principal Talmage Trujillo, effective immediately.
The School Board will formally accept the resignation at the regular meeting of the Board on December 13, 2022.
The September 23, 2021 incident in which a student in crisis briefly visited Salida High school and then left, causing Trujillo to follow him became the center of a controversial law enforcement response. Trujillo received misdemeanor charges for the September incident including; harboring a minor, obstructing a peace officer, and first-degree official misconduct after allegedly interfering with police during a lockdown at the school because of the aggravated student.
During the review and investigation, new charges were brought against Trujillo, then in February 2022 additional charges were filed after he wiped his phone of text messages between him and the student in crisis during the incident.
Trujillo has made no public comments about the incident. Other than formal press releases, neither has the Salida School District Board of Directors.
