Colorado gypsy jazz band, The Blind Pigs, will be bringing their soulful brand of Americana to The Lariat in Buena Vista this Saturday, Oct. 19. The show starts at 10 p.m., tickets are $10 and can be purchased online or at the door.

A brand-new band on the scene, The Blind Pigs, offers a fresh take on road-worn Americana that is as refreshing as it is familiar.  This is a local Colorado supergroup consisting of; mandolinist Alex Johnstone and violinist Coleman Smith from the award-winning newgrass outfit Rapidgrass; bassist and multi-instrumentalist Gary Sloan from the Royal Street Ramblers; guitarist/vocalist David Lawrence from LaPompe; and solo acoustic singer/songwriter Bonnie Lea Culpepper. Together their collective sound embodies diversity and defies any one particular genre.

Soulful sounds with a gypsy spirit, The Blind Pigs astound audiences with their “acoustic and electrical wizardry” and ability to take listeners on a journey of the ears and soul, according to the band’s official website. Thoughtful, well-conceived lyrics with well-rounded vocal harmonies drive down the back roads of Americana roots with the free-loving spirit of creative exploration.

Uniquely creative and irresistibly catchy, The Blind Pigs brings a level of musicianship and familiarity that some describe as gripping the soul and touching the heart.
