This weekend, in honor of Salida Heritage days, Monarch Mountain will host a presentation on “The History of Skiing” from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Victoria Tavern in Salida.

The free presentation by Dr. Duane Vandenbusche, a history professor from Western
Colorado University, is part of the inaugural Salida Heritage Days festival which celebrates Salida’s 139-year history in addition to recognizing Monarch Mountain’s 80th anniversary. Vandenbusche is the author of nine books about the history of central Colorado and is a regular Monarch skier.

“Be prepared to be entertained! Dr. Vandenbusche always gives a riveting presentation,” said Monarch Mountain’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing  Dan Bender.
