The Maverick Potter is offering pottery classes early this season. While classes typically begin in October, eager teachers are allowing the classes to begin as of September 11. Classes will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Participants can choose Mondays or Tuesdays at their downtown studio (119 F Street, Salida).

Those with any level of experience with ceramics are welcome to take part in the classes. At the time of writing, three spots are available for Mondays and two for Tuesdays.

The class fee is $295. This price includes materials, glazing, and firing. Those interested in participating can sign up online for classes.

The six-class courses are suitable for all skill levels. Instructors strive to create a positive experience where students can learn the complete process of making ceramic pieces from step one.

Students can expect to learn about the process of pottery making, from throwing on the wheel to the complete glazing and firing process.

Classes happen both at the downtown studio location and at the High Mountain Kiln operation at the Maverick Potter Home Studio. Students will end the class with some fully finished ceramic pieces.

The studio is also planning a selection of short workshops (one to two sessions) and a raku firing in October. More information about their classes is available on their website.

If an interested participant is unable to join this round of classes, they can email MaverickPotter@Gmail.com to be notified of the next round of classes.
