Folk meets blues in a beautiful way as The Sweet Lillies’ once again will grace The Lariat Saturday, Feb. 22. The show starts at 9:00 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online, or at the door for $10. The show was originally scheduled for Feb. 7, and postponed due to the snow storm which swept through the central Colorado Rockies that day, dropping feet of snow in the high country.
Hailing from the Front Range, The Sweet Lillies’ were formed by three women in November 2013 who shared a passion for authentic and compelling songwriting mixed with dynamic musicianship. Over time, the original lineup has changed slightly, but the potency of the music is no less watered down. The current lineup includes the magical chemistry of Becca Bisque on viola/percussion/vocals, Dustin Rohleder on guitar, and Julie Gussaroff on upright bass/mandolin/guitar/vocals forming one of the most formidable power trios Colorado has to offer.
The Sweet Lillies’ effortlessly melds gypsy folk rock and gritty blues rooted in Appalachian and American folk music. Charismatic and alluring, The Sweet Lillies’ unique brand of rock ‘n’ roll is etched with saccharine three-part harmonies not commonly found in a power trio.
Over the years, The Sweet Lillies’ have shared the stage with the likes of Kyle Hollingsworth and Jason Hann (The String Cheese Incident), Andy Hall (The Infamous Stringdusters), Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon), Steve Kimock, Jeff Austin, and the legendary Peter Rowan.
“With a contagious love of music and a get-up-and-dance-attitude”, The Sweet Lillies’ treat audiences to a rare live experience that leaves everyone, including the band members, full of smiles according to the band’s official website. Together with wholesome, inspiring songwriting and exceptional musicianship, The Sweet Lillies’ deliver a musical experience that is not to be missed.
