The Partnership for Community Action (PfCA) will host Salida Soup 64 at 6:00 p.m. on March 18. Three new presenters will pitch their projects during the March meeting. The microgranting event is being held online until further notice, with presenters submitting five-minute video pitches that will be shared via their website.
Community members are then asked to watch the presentations and cast a vote for their favorite organization with their five dollars (or more) donation. This month’s presenters include Pearl’s Sunrize Sanctuary, Just Adventure Art, and the Salida Circus.
PfCA also hosts a monthly community movie. This month’s featured movie is “Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution”.
The film’s premise is : This is a story of Camp Jened, a summer camp in upstate New York described as a “loose, free-spirited camp designed for teens with disabilities”. Jened was a freewheeling utopia where summertime sports, smoking, and make-out sessions awaited everyone, with campers experiencing liberation and full inclusion as human beings.
The film garnered acclaim from a number of film critics including winning the Audience Award at its January 2020 premiere screening at the Sundance Film Festival. The film is available to watch via Netflix.
A community-wide discussion of the film will be conducted via Zoom, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on March 25. For more information click here.
