From October 1 to 3, Westcliffe, Colorado will celebrate the 15th annual Arts Hullabaloo. This three-day event consists of family fun celebrating showcasing the visual arts, performing arts, musical arts, to name a few. The Sangres Art Guild, in partnership with Rebecca’s Fund hosts this year’s annual Arts Hullabaloo.
Arts Hullabaloo returns with exciting new events plus old favorites, all guaranteed to share the fun of creativity in kids of all ages. Participants will spend fun-filled, awe-inspiring, event-packed days filled with warm memories of the Wet Mountain Valley.

- Friday is chalk art day with visual history presentations and special prizes for best ‘History of Custer County’ chalk art.
- Saturday in the Park returns with favorites like vendor’s showcasing various Arts and Crafts, Kids’ Face Painting, Quick Draw Competition with Models, Kids Paint Too, Roving Musicians, Dance, Entertainment and Fun.
- Sunday on the Bluff is a glorious time on the Bluff with family and friends. Activities include hand decorated kites and paper planes, competitions and various family games. Click here to view the full schedule.
Thomas Fluharty will also be in Westcliffe from October 1 to October 4. Fluharty is classically trained in oils in the Dutch and Flemish technique, especially Rembrandt. He used their methods to develop his unique style in portraying contemporary pop-culture icons, which then evolved into a larger than life following and career.
Friday he will host a “Just for Kids” workshop for children age five and up. Two adult
workshops emphasizing his unique Indigo Bleu drawing technique will feature drawing “Cowboys” on Saturday and “immortalize your favorite pooch portrait” on Sunday while he gives a live painting
demonstration.
A “HOW I GOT HERE” reception will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on October 3 when Fluharty will share his personal journey from nowhere to becoming a renowned artist. He will then spend Monday at the Custer County School with art demos for students.
