The City of Salida is in the process of choosing a new logo. A Brand Committee made up of local graphic designers, artists, community members, City staff and several City Council members have been meeting monthly since May. Local graphic designers were invited to submit portfolio work that was reviewed by the Committee and two designers were selected and paid $2,500 to produce new logo options.

Now the Committee needs the community’s feedback. The Committee worked to narrow down the logo options, and three choices are available for review and feedback. Community members are invited to submit comments anonymously online. The deadline to comment is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4. Feedback from the community survey will be shared with City Council and the Committee.

After the results are in, the Committee will share its top logo recommendation to City Council at a presentation at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5. City Council will formally adopt a new City logo or request additional refinement at the Tuesday, October 5 meeting.

Why does Salida need a new logo? The city released the following information:

  • The City of Salida is changing, and the current logo no longer reflects the City’s unique and vibrant culture or identity.
  • The current logo was created before 2008 and has become outdated over time.
  • The current logo was designed without a cohesive brand and brand guidelines were never incorporated, leading to inconsistent use of the logo.
  • Production of the logo on apparel, signs and other digital materials does not reproduce well, often resulting in additional printing costs and other issues.
  • The current logo doesn’t fully represent the City government, the inclusivity of our community or the arts and recreation amenities of Salida.
