Residents and businesses throughout a large section of Salida will need to reset their digital clocks Saturday morning following Xcel Energy’s “planned outage,” scheduled from 12:00 a.m. midnight Friday, March 23 until 6:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, according to a press release from the Salida Chamber of Commerce.

Interruption in electric service will allow for the performance of needed maintenance work, the company said. The affected areas of Salida include areas north of Park Avenue, south of First Street and between F and Walnut streets. Xcel Energy expects the interruption to last approximately six and a half hours.

In its prepared statement, the company said it is committed to providing customers with reliable power. Those with questions or concerns are directed to call 1-800-895-4999; under residential customer, press option 2 “to report an outage.” Next, press option 1, at which point the automated system will ask for an account number or address to get an outage update. Press option 3 to speak to a live customer care representative. Customers can also use their mobile phones to email inquire@Xcelenergy.com for information.

“We’re happy to provide an email for people’s ongoing questions and concerns,” said Communications Manager Teresa Montano. “We appreciate the public’s patience as we work to maintain the equipment serving the city of Salida.”
