Tonight, Wednesday, October 19, Ark Valley Voice, together with its parent organization Truth Has a Voice Foundation will hold its Chaffee Candidate Forum beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Salida City council Chambers located in the Touber Building. Unlike the 2020 election when COVID-19 social distancing rules were in place, this time an in-person audience will be allowed.

This is your chance to hear candidates for the Board of County Commissioners and the Chaffee Clerk and Recorder answer questions about their experience, policy ideas, and the issues important to our quality of life here in Chaffee County.

We invite you to listen in to hear their answers, in one of three ways:

  • The forum will be held in the Salida City Council Chambers located in the Touber Building, for those who would like to attend and have the opportunity to ask questions in person.
  • The candidate forum will also be broadcast in two mediums: To simply watch the meeting follow this link to the Salida City YouTube channel.
  • To view the meeting and ask questions in the “chat” function, view it on Zoom: (Meeting ID: 814 1953 0385, Passcode: 335678) or via phone: +1 719 359 4580 US

Voters may submit questions in person or via the Zoom chat function, but AVV might not get to all the questions during the 90-minute forum itself. It will provide the candidates with those questions and will publish all responses to every question.

Remember that over the past few weeks, AVV has conducted a reader poll asking about the issues that matter to Chaffee County Voters. Here are the results; not statistically scientific, but they indicate some trends of our concerns and where our values lie. Now 20 days out from the general election, AVV will be doing one more voter issues poll.
