In an Aug. 1 press release, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet announced that Colorado Governor Jared Polis, and Colorado U.S. Representatives Yadira Caraveo, Joe Neguse, and Brittany Pettersen will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act’s passage Wednesday by highlighting the law’s landmark investments in clean energy, domestic manufacturing, local economies, and the American people.

Signed into law in August 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act made historic steps to confront climate change, reduce the national deficit, and lower health care and prescription drug costs for Coloradans, the release stated.

Bennet also recently announced $74 million secured in funding priorities in Fiscal Year 2024 for 78 community projects across Colorado, under the usual congressionally- directed spending process.

Among the projects is $300,000 for Jane’s Place, a Multi-family Affordable Solar Housing project. The funding will be provided to Chaffee County Government.

Bennet and Senator John Hickenlooper requested the project funds, approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee and which are expected to be voted in the full Senate by year’s end.

Also in the lengthy project list for funding were the following:

  • $800,000 for facility upgrades at the Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado in Colorado Springs.
  • $1,000,000 for a Dental Center at Pikes Peak State College in Colorado Springs.
  • $975,000 for an Ecological Prediction Lab; airborne overage to study water and forest health management at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) in Crested Butte.
  • $2,000,000 for the San Luis Valley Health Workforce Housing Project in Alamosa.
