Breaking: The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office announced at 12:39 p.m. March 6 that CR 306 has been reopened.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office reported around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020 that they responded to CR 306 in the vicinity of the Avalanche Trailhead on a report of a person that was deceased.
Sheriff’s personnel arrived and discovered a deceased male. The discovery is under investigation. As a result of the investigation activities, CR 306 west of Rainbow Lake is closed until the investigation at the scene is completed.
The Sheriff’s Office says that because this is an open ongoing investigation, no further details are available at this time.
