Community and chamber members are invited to join together from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7 in the Piñon Room at the Buena Vista Community Center (715 East Main Street) for Buena Vista’s ongoing Community Coffee event.

The event provides opportunities for members of the community to hear and provide updates on events, businesses, nonprofits, and more.

The meeting, co-hosted by the Town of Buena Vista, is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.

Community Coffee is held on the first Wednesday of every month to unite residents and businesses. It is moderated by Chamber of Commerce leadership.

According to the Chamber’s website, “Community Coffee provides an opportunity to be deeply connected, with a larger sense of community, and the shared goal of bettering the place where we all live, work, and play.”

Attendees can expect to hear from various elected and business leaders about what is going on in the community right now as they provide updates on the most current issues, challenges, and triumphs around town. Attendees can also hear announcements of upcoming events and engage in discussion.

The January 2024 Community Coffee was the first led by new Buena Vista Chamber Executive Director Liz Morgan. Morgan shook up the formula for Community Coffee by asking everyone to share their name, organization, and a concern they have for the coming year.

Based on this feedback, Morgan identified improving social media marketing as a theme among community members. To help address this topic, there will be a Chamber members-only book club event with a social media theme.

The group conversation will focus on a new book, The Social Shift, which covers current best practices for social media. The book club conversation will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22.

Chamber Members can register online here to save a spot. Those interested in becoming members of the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce can find the application online here.

Two local bookstores, Once Upon A Trapeze and The Book Nook, will be stocking the selection in preparation for the event.

Once Upon A Trapeze recently moved locations to 301 East Main Street, Suite 105. The Book Nook is located in a historic cottage at 127 South San Juan Avenue.
