“What’s Up Salida”, a monthly community-wide networking event will meet next in Salida from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 21.

Held at the Salida Community Center at 305 F Street, the informal get-together engages a variety of attendees including business owners, elected officials from the County, as well as the City of Salida and the Chamber of Commerce, along with anyone wanting to know more about what’s happening in Salida.

What’s on your mind?

“What’s Up” is a valuable opportunity for the community to share and connect. Previous meetings have included discussions about local issues such as public restrooms, the Scout Wave and the D Street Artspace affordable housing project. The Board of County Commissioners’ recent response about the challenges of January 2024 property tax assessments and mill levies are likely to be top of mind at this meeting.

And while there is no set agenda, timely local-level questions might concern guidance from the F Street Plaza survey, October’s just-announced sales tax collections, COVID/RSV/flu updates from Chaffee County Public Health as well as the financial viability of Salida’s restaurants, to name a few.

Fast-paced updates cover much ground in one hour

Keynotes will include information from downtown merchants, uptown businesses, and others to talk about events this holiday season as well as those leading off in 2024.

There will also be Chamber updates and time for “community buzz”, where any member from the community can ask questions and hold brief discussions.

Coffee will be provided, bring your own reusable mug if you wish

This will be a community-wide, community-building opportunity taking place on the 3rd Thursday morning of each month. A similarly-styled series of events held in Buena Vista has proven to be highly popular.

While everyone is busier than ever at this time of year, organizers suggest that this extended “coffee break” might enlighten your workday and put you in touch with other people you might not otherwise know.
