As reported by Ark Valley Voice, on February 6th, City Council Member Harald Kasper announced his resignation from the position of council member for Ward 3 for the City of Salida, effective immediately.
According to a press release received today, Feb. 9, the City is seeking to fill the Ward 3 vacancy. Interested candidates are required to submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office located at 448 East First Street Suite 112, Salida, CO 81201 or via email to the Interim City Clerk, Sara Law by by 4:00 p.m. on March 13, 2024. Colorado Revised Statutes state that if any vacancy occurs in the office of Council because of a resignation the same shall be filled by appointment by a majority vote of the City Council. Candidates need to have resided in Ward 3 for a period of at least twelve consecutive months.
Candidates will be interviewed by the City Council during the March 18, 2024 work session and the selected candidate will be subsequently appointed at a regular meeting of the City Council, as early as March 19.
