A call by Ark Valley Voice to verify details revealed that as of this writing, Dec. 26 reservations are closed. Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA) staff said that they are taking names on a waitlist; people may drop out, depending on the weather and a spot may open up. Interested parties are urged to call now to get on the list.

AHRA can be reached at 719-539-7289 and more information is here.
The Loop hike from 9:00 a.m. to 12: 00 noon on Jan. 1 is in the area of the Old Midland Railroad Grade and Forest Service Road CR 376A, to the north and east of the parking area. With heavier snow conditions, the hike may run to the railroad grade east of the parking area and connecting trails. The hike will be four miles round trip.

Colorado State Parks (CPW) notes that other hikes on Jan. 1 are available, primarily in area state parks.
