The deadline for Salida Chamber of Commerce Community Award Nominations is 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 18. If you have yet to nominate someone, your time is running out. This award is put on by the Salida Chamber of Commerce as a way of showing appreciation to someone in the community that you believe makes a big difference.

The award categories include Cornerstone, From the Heart, and Man and Woman of the Year. The Entrepreneur Award and the Business of the Year Award are still honored but nominated by the Salida Chamber Board of Directors.

The Cornerstone Award is given as recognition of long-term community support and dedication. From the Heart and Man and Woman of the Year Award nominees should be involved in the betterment of the community through active civic participation. Involvement may include being in health or human services, education, recreation, arts or cultural improvements, economic development, or community-based organizations that contribute to the quality of life in the community.

Residents are given this opportunity at the end of the year to recognize members of their community who demonstrate leadership, are involved and embody the Salida spirit. Nominees will be selected using the following criteria:

  • How qualified the nominee is to receive this award based on the description
  • How accomplished the nominee is in the community and what level they have contributed to the community
  • How much of an impact the nominee has on their community as it relates to the organizations the nominee is involved in.
