The Salida City Council announced early Wednesday morning that the sole finalist for the City Administrator position is Christy Doon, who is currently serving as the Interim City Administrator for the City of Salida.

The City hired Doon in 2022 as Assistant City Administrator and she stepped into the role of Interim City Administrator in August of 2023, following the departure of long-serving administrator Drew Nelson.

Prior to serving in this role, Doon served for the past ten years as the South-Central Regional Manager for the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA). She provided technical and financial assistance to local governments in a 10-county region including Salida and Chaffee County.

Doon also served as the Community and Economic Development Specialist for six years with the Department of Local Affairs, Division of Local Government, based out of Denver. She is currently a faculty member of the University of Colorado – Denver and Adams State University, teaching Master’s level coursework in Local Government Administration as well as Human Resource Management and Leadership Development.

Doon began her career in local government as a Best and Brightest management fellow with the Town of Poncha Springs. She holds a Master of Public Policy and Administration from the University of Colorado – Denver, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Dallas.
