Get ready, Farmers Market season is here once again.

The Salida Farmers Market will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. starting on June 12 and will run through October 16 at Alpine Park. Alpine Park provides an easy and ideal retreat. This community-focused event invites community members to fill their baskets with fresh local food, allows kids to play on the playground, and even offers a place to spread out a blanket while live music fills the air.

The Buena Vista Market will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sundays from June 13 through October 3. Starting in Summer 2021, Buena Vista’s Farmers Market will be held in McPhelemy Park, adjacent to the stoplight at the intersection of Highway 24 and Main Street. McPhelemy Park offers ample seating and shade, easy vendor access and is a vibrant cornerstone of the BV community.

Both Farmers Markets are brought to you by Foodshed Alliance whose mission is to facilitate a thriving local food economy by organizing and promoting Farmers Markets and Vendors.

The Arkansas River Valley is home to expansive ranches and farmland. With its abundant resources, fresh water and mild climate, Foodshed Alliance’s earliest founders recognized the valley’s potential for supporting a local food economy. The Foodshed Alliance Farmers Markets showcase and complement some of Chaffee County’s most vibrant communities.

Both markets participate in the SNAP program, which provides equal access to quality local food. They also participate in the Double Up Food Bucks program, which doubles the spending power of anyone using their EBT card.

For those with an EBT card, just stop by the market’s information booth to use your card. Click here to learn more about redeeming SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks at Foodshed Alliance farmers markets.
