This is the 42nd year of this Chaffee County Holiday Sampler Craft Show.

It was started by the Chaffee 4H club, then the responsibility for the craft show transitioned to the Chaffee County Homemakers, to a group of local women, and then finally transitioned to the leadership of Linda Cook.

For the past 30 years, Cook, an artist who works in many mediums, has worked tirelessly, to put on the show for the holiday season. This year she’ll have home-crafted wreaths, jewelry, ornaments, and more.

Among the 40-odd exhibitors at the event, the Order of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Salida will be selling homemade baked goodies at the Craft Show to support The Sons of Italy High School Senior Scholarship Fund.

It gives a scholarship each year to a graduating senior of Italian descent. Booth organizers say “We will have both Italian and non-Italian baked goods for sale as well as some gluten-free items. Come early to get the best goodies.”

The Holiday Sampler Craft Show is extremely popular. Its 40-plus artists are recruited purely by word of mouth. If you are an artist interested in exhibiting art at next year’s event, stop by Cook’s booth and ask for an application. She should know by February 2024 whether she’s booked for Dec. 2024 or has room for new exhibitors.  She adds that she hopes to see as many as possible at this Saturday’s Show.
