Spring has arrived and the weekend weather calls for sun and almost 60 degrees. It’s a great time to plan a visit to the annual Chaffee Home & Garden Show being held at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds & Events Center, 10165 CR 120, in Poncha Springs.

The show runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. this Saturday, April 1 and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday April 2.

The show has been produced and staffed since 2014 by volunteers from the Salida Sunrise Rotary Club and its Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Proceeds support scholarships for area students and grants to other nonprofits such as Boys & Girls Club STEM program, Ark Valley Helping Hands and Salida Circus camps.

Meet the AVV Crew

Among the more than 70 booths spread across two buildings, you’ll find the crew from the nonprofit Ark Valley Voice (AVV) and volunteers from their parent, the Truth Has a Voice Foundation in booth N12 in the North Building. The booth is catty-corner from the main entrance, just past the large Pelino Excavation booth and around the corner from Poncha Lumber.

Meet the Publisher, Editors and reporters that bring you stories of local, regional and national impact, six days a week on your smartphone, tablet, or PC.

While there’s plenty of free parking, it’s also a great chance to ride out from town on the bike path, or take a free ride (Saturday only) on the Chaffee Shuttle. (Schedule your ride at least 24 hours in advance by calling 719-530-8980).

The show features expert speakers on both days, with great tips for sprucing up your home and garden, improving the environment, and preserving our heritage.

Hungry?

After working up an appetite seeing the booths you can fortify yourself with Coffee by Topo, a variety of healthy breakfast and lunch foods from Ride On Smoothies & Eats as well as made from scratch entrées from Peaks ‘N Pitas.
