“I’m very honored and thrilled to be selected as the next Town Administrator of Poncha Springs,” says Hostetter. “I grew up just over the hill in Alamosa, so I’m familiar with and excited to be back in a small-town community. More importantly, my family loves the Arkansas Valley and Poncha Springs, so this is a dream for us.”

Hostetter hails from the Denver metro area, although his roots are rural. He received a communications degree from Adams State University and a Master’s in Public Administration with an emphasis in Local Government from the University of Colorado Denver.

Asked about his priorities as he looks forward to starting his new position, Hostetter lists three major focus areas. He says that over the next year, he’ll work with Mayor Scanga, the Trustees, and Town staff “to continue work on the Highway 50 corridor, including planning for speed and safety improvements, beautification, and walking/biking pathways and crossings.” He adds that he’ll “continue the great work to improve recreation in Poncha Springs, including planning for the 30 acres that the town recently purchased.”

His third priority, says Hostetter, is to “improve public safety by planning for a future Poncha Springs Police Department. This will be a lengthy process that will include public input.”

Hostetter comes to his new position with a breadth of experience across several important sectors. He has served as a Communications Manager with the Colorado Department of Education, as a Program Manager for America Achieves, a Government Affairs Manager for Colorado Succeeds, and a Communications & Public Affairs Director with Denver Families for Public Schools. Hostetter most recently has served as Government Relations Director with Professional Assist Corporation.

His first official day on the job in Poncha Springs will be Monday, April 8.
