Dear Editor,

In recent weeks, numerous individuals have approached me to discuss my husband’s political campaign. I would like to take a moment to explain not only why I support Aaron Stephens’ candidacy for Salida City Council Ward 2, but why you should too.

Aaron is the backbone of our family’s decades of volunteerism throughout the community. He is involved in every aspect, from staging to assisting children’s activities to safety boating and everything in between. While I am normally at the forefront, he does everything behind the scenes. One of the most admirable aspects of his actions is the fact that he does not expect or need recognition for them.

Aaron is a down-to-earth person who does everything out of his love for his family and community. When asked why to vote for him, the simple answer is that he is a selfless, good person who remains strong and moral in tough situations, demonstrating the restraint of a saint. Aaron is the kind of person you want to have your back. That sounds like the kind of representation this community needs, doesn’t it?

With a quarter-century of experience living in Salida, he brings a unique outlook to the table. His diverse professional background through his 25 years in the community includes working in the rafting, skiing, service, recycling and construction industries, culminating in his current ownership of a dirtworks and trucking business. Such a varied career path in Salida, Colorado has given him a distinct and broad perspective, representing demographics that are not always visible in public office.

A vote for Aaron J. Stephens is a vote for Salida.

Lindsay Sutton-Stephens
