The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will be offering a free, virtual Family and Friends Seminar from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 21 via Zoom. NAMI Family and Friends is a free 90-minute seminar that informs and supports people who have loved ones living with mental health conditions. Participants will learn about diagnoses, treatment, recovery, communication strategies, crisis preparation, and NAMI resources. This is a helpful introduction to the complete Family and Friends course.

NAMI Chaffee County will also be offering a free, virtual Family-to-Family course on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. April 8 through March 27, also via Zoom. This eight-week course is designed to increase understanding and advocacy skills while helping participants maintain their own wellbeing. Participants will learn about problem-solving, communication strategies, treatment, recovery, and mental health disorders such as anxiety, depressive disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other mental health conditions.

Both of these programs are intended for family, friends, and significant others who have a loved one living with a mental condition and are taught by trained peer facilitators who have personal experience with mental health conditions in their families.
