Across the Central Colorado Rockies and the San Luis Valley, the National Forest Service offices have announced their holiday hours. All federal agencies and offices observe federal holidays.

The Pike-San Isabel National Forest (PSIF) announced that all the offices in their jurisdiction will be closed for federal holidays on December 25 (Christmas Day), and January 2, 2024 (New Year’s Day).

The Salida Ranger District Office will close a few hours early, at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, and be closed for federal holidays: December 25 (Christmas Day) and January 2, 2024 (New Year’s Day). Its regular office hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Rio Grande National Forest (RGNF) announced this week their planned office hours for the remainder of the year while they manage around staffing shortages. Normal RGNF office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office is making minor adjustments to this schedule from now into the first of the new year, to meet their staffing shortages.

All RGNF offices will be closed on Monday, December 25 and Monday, January 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays. In addition, all RGNF offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 2 for important system updates and training. All offices may close two hours early on December 22 and December 29.
