Two Sessions of “Dinner and a Movie”: Jan. 18 in Salida, Jan. 25 in Buena Vista

The Chaffee County “We Are Chaffee” initiative will present a series of locally made video shorts focused on “Stories of Change”  The free movie and dinner event includes a diverse collection of video shorts created by Chaffee County residents who share their stories of a passion they felt that led them to create change, either within themselves or for the community.

The event will be hosted at the Salida SteamPlant on Thursday, January 18 with Amicas providing a light dinner for guests and at the Surf Hotel in Buena Vista on Thursday, January 25 with the Wesley and Rose Restaurant providing a “Farmer’s Buffet” for guests.

Free childcare will be provided for each event. Registration is required for both the event and for childcare. Written storyboards begin at 6:00 p.m. and the movie event begins at 6:30 p.m. in both Buena Vista and Salida.

After the film, the storywriters will participate in an audience Q&A.

In addition, the event will highlight We Are Chaffee Too! written stories that will be on display during the dinner portion of the event, and the filmmakers of the We Are Chaffee Documentary will provide an update on the film’s progress and a “sneak peek” at the movie. Come early for dinner, read some short stories of everyday local people, and chat with some of the students and local writers who interviewed and wrote up these short stories!
