In the regular meeting of the Town of Poncha Springs Board of Trustees on Monday, Feb. 24, the Board unanimously approved Resolution 2020-4, which cancels the 2020 election for Poncha Springs, because all candidates are running unopposed.

A memorandum included in the Trustee’s packet provided by City Administrator, Treasurer and Clerk Brian Berger stated, “As of the deadline to submit petitions ( 5 p.m. on Jan. 27) Ben Scanga had submitted for the position of Mayor and Dean Edwards, Tina Perri-Muncy and JD Longwell submitted petitions for the three available trustee seats.”

Poncha Springs operates on a two-year election schedule with the next election scheduled for April 7, 2020. This year, the position for Mayor and three open seats for Trustees were up for election. Packets were available for interested parties on January 7.  The three continuing trustees Edwards, Perri-Muncy and Longwell and Mayor Scanga’s races were uncontested.

The Town of Poncha Springs Board is comprised of: Mayor Ben Scanga, Mayor Pro-Tem Adrian Quintana , Trustees Darryl Wilson, Dean Edwards , JD Longwell, Tina Perri-Mundy and Thomas Moore.
