Salida Spartan Youth Football will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers to raise money for equipment. For other food-related festivities, attendees can look forward to the watermelon eating contest.

This year’s Independence Day celebration will also include the third annual Strider Bike Race, in which contestants four-years-old and younger compete on push bikes to be crowned the speediest toddler-on-wheels in Poncha Springs. Registration, beginning at 12:30 p.m., is free and the competitors must be wearing shoes and a helmet.

Other events included in the day’s activities are classics such as the three-legged race, a sandpit treasure hunt, tug-of-war, horseshoes and more. Bring a chair and a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice, water will be provided.
