The Salida City Council (SCC) will hold a regular meeting tonight, at 6:00 p.m. on August 1, in Council Chambers at the Touber Building, 448 E First Street. A complete packet and agenda, including instructions for remote access, can be found here.

On the agenda under “Unfinished Business” is consideration of Resolution 2023-32. This resolution amends the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use Map (FLUM).

A decision on it was continued after council discussion at the July 18 meeting, on the basis of some questions coming up about some of the requests for changes that the Planning Commission had asked for – changes that deviated from the draft of the map prepared by Clarion and Associates, consultants for the plan.

Also under “Unfinished Business” is a second reading and public hearing for Ordinance 2023-11, establishing new compensation plans for elected officials.

Under New Business is consideration of two new Resolutions: 2023-34, consideration of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Xcel Energy for implementing their Partners in Energy program in Salida; and 2023-35, approving an alternate appointment to the Chaffee Housing Authority (CHA).

Also under New Business is the proposed appointment of Christy Doon, currently the Assistant City Administrator, to the position of Interim City Administrator, and setting her salary for the term of the appointment.

This is an item that was pulled from the agenda for the July 18 meeting, in order to present it on outgoing City Administrator Drew Nelson’s last day, according to statements from Mayor Dan Shore and City Clerk Erin Kelley in response to AVV inquiry.
