This weekend, Ark Valley Voice (AVV) reached $6,100 in our “Christmas in July” Giving Campaign. While the campaign title is light-hearted,  our newly-nonprofit news organization has an earnest request. Our goal for this summer campaign is to raise $30,000 supporting the public service role of AVV journalists; offering homegrown, fact-based, and investigative news — at no cost to readers.

This morning we received a donation challenge from a past Salida supporter. If the public can match his new $2,500 pledge, he will upgrade his support to become a Cornerstone Partner at the $2,500 level.

His timing: equal his pledge with $2,500 in donations by 12:00 noon Saturday, July 22.  Support can be in any amount, from new or renewing supporters, in a one-time or recurring donation (which will be valued for 12 month’s worth).

Support AVV now for as little as the cost of a cup of coffee a week,  invested in home-grown news, at one of the levels below:

  • A one-time donation of any amount  – every dollar helps contribute to our nonprofit newsroom operation, or:
  • $12/month – covers our Zoom meeting subscription, vital for keeping our far-flung crew in touch
  • $50/month – ensures cloud back-up protecting five years’ worth of news story archives
  • $100/month – funds one week of arts/nonprofit reporter coverage
  • $250/month  – funds environmental reporting for one month

Donations can be made online at https://arkvalleyvoice.com/support-quality-local-journalism/ . If you decide to accept this challenge to join the Ark Valley Voice “Christmas In July”, your receipt will be issued by our fiscal sponsor the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN).

Our gratitude goes hand in hand with our sense of responsibility. This is our role in democracy.  Your support is critical to that role, now more than ever.

This supporter, who wants to remain anonymous wrote, “Please consider what receiving Ark Valley Voice means to you and widen the circle of supporters and Community Partners who are keeping fact-based, in-depth journalism alive in Chaffee County. I have.”
